Hey! It’s Sunny again.
This time I want to share a very special town called Blowing Rock with you. This unique historic town is located in the mountains. When you drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, you will admire it’s beauty, appreciate the vivid characteristics of all four seasons, and visit the famous and picturesque bridge called Linn Cove Viaduct.

I stayed in Blowing Rock for 4 months (July 2020- October 2020).
The majority of the residents are retired and wealthy, but some of the tourists can be younger. The houses here are almost vacation houses. You can see a lot of fancy and luxury cars on the street.
A lot of tourists like visiting here and doing window shopping in Boutique shops along the Main Street. You can always see a long line outside of Kilwin’s, a local ice cream shop. You can grab a cone and eat on the bench facing Main Street to watch people and cars coming and going. It’s really relaxing. When I am in a bad mood, I will go and sit there and I will recover very soon.

There are two parks. One is beside the Main Street, and there are a lot of swings and slides, which are so much fun. You can hear a lot of laughter from children and adults.
Now the whole town is full of Christmas decoration. It looks so good, especially at night.

The other park is a little bit further. You can see a big pond with ducks and fish. Bring some bread and go feed them! There is also a beautiful gazebo in the middle.
In the summer, the temperature in the town is so cool that it attracts a lot of visitors. I am so lucky that I spent a summer there. You can go tubing, kayaking, hiking and catching minnows from the creek, etc. In the winter, you can go skiing, ice skating and snow tubing, etc.
There are a lot of hiking trails nearby. It will be your heaven if you are very into outdoor activities. I would like to strongly recommend you a trail which is called Rough Ridge. You will get a ton of amazing pictures. Be brave and embrace nature!
Boone
There is a college town 15 minutes away from Blowing Rock named Boone. You can also walk on the campus of Appalachian State University. Boone is similar to Blowing Rock but with more young people.
Then you can explore Asheville.
I spent one week in a round cabin house in Asheville, which is a really popular activity in this area because there are a lot of woods and forests. In the city Asheville, you can hike the urban trail, which really tests your sense of direction and ability to find stuff. When you are discovering this city, you are also checking out the history here. The famous writer O’ Henry is buried here. I love how his stories always have unexpected endings.
There are a lot of breweries nearby. Go grab a drink and get a little bit buzz. Let your hair down❤️
Lake Norman
I went to a lake house beside Lake Norman for one week. I will recommend the Badger Lake House. It was a really nice experience. You can just go kayaking, fishing by the house and watch the sunrise and sunset from wherever you are. Meanwhile, if you can afford to rent a boat, you will have a nice day on the lake. It will be great to enjoy the breeze, the fresh air on the sea and the speed of the boat. Drive the boat and go get brunch! How romantic!
Charlotte
I just spent one day here, so I am not going to recommend a lot places. I took some pictures in some good spots. Bank of America corporate center here is best known as the world headquarters for it. It’s one of the tallest buildings in the South.
Greensboro
I came here to visit one of my friend in UNCG. I tried the buffet at campus and Red Crab.
If you have enough time and want to go further, you can also visit Wilmington. I stayed in a beach house there for one week. The beach here is so good, and I tried a boogie board for the first time. You can also go to the pier and the birds will fly above your head. It’s a wonderful beach town.
